Hello, yes, that’s right — it's our birthday! SydneyMusic.net was created on this day 4 years ago. To everyone that has made it possible: thank you. We would not be here without the support of our community.

We normally celebrate our birthday with a big letter, but this time we’re doing something a bit different. We just wrapped up our annual survey, and we were so blown away with the responses that we received we want to spend a bit of time on them and sharing the insights that they contain.

As a result: this week, we’ll be posting a bunch of fun stats and highlights from what you wrote in. We think it'll be a fun way to reflect on where our community is at as we consider our plans for the year ahead.

To get the week started, we are sharing our submission to the NSW Government Social Issues Comittee, which we submitted last Friday night. The most important parts of the submission are your words, so we figure it’s right that you get to read it.

Here’s an example of what the document contains: we received 281 unique responses to the question “What sort of spaces or venues would you like to see more of?”

After analysing every reply, we categorised the entries and did a quick tally. Here’s what you talked about:

The whole report is available for you to read right now in a big downloadable PDF. When we say big: we mean hundreds and hundreds of thoughts from all of you (as a result, you may find it easier to read on a laptop)

Enjoy, and let us know your thoughts!

Want to help us keep at it? Become a supporter!

If you use the gig guide and get value from it, please consider becoming a supporter to as we begin to gear up for another round of fundraising (all donations of $2 and above are tax deductible)

In closing

Thank you again to everyone that completed the survey! All of your feedback will be considered as we plan the year ahead.

We are constantly blown away by the breadth and depth of our city's music culture. We’re looking to the future with excitement as we continue to point more and more people towards what’s going on in every corner of our city.

See you at a show!
