The Med

So, look... a place like The Med doesn't look like a lot of the spaces that feature in these pages but doing a small amount of reading on this local saxophonist yields: "compositions featured in the Australian Jazz Real Book" (which sent me down a wormhole of checking that out - it's a website, not a book... and huge to dive into, lot going on there), "nominated for 2016 young Australian Jazz artist of the year" (looks like there are 4 nominees per year). His band features Aaron Blakey, who has a weekly gig with his own quartet at the Botany View Hotel on Thursday nights. Now I'm obviously at the edge of my realm of experience - my jazz tastes stray more into the abstract, but if this sort of jazz is your thing, love to know your thoughts.
