W/ Astrophysical Maser, S.Miles, Tom Adamson, Doctor Robot, Terrificus
8:00pm The Lord Gladstone
Creamy G's has been a phenomenal series at the Gladdy highlighting the extraordinary calibre of Sydney's weirdo music subculture - a cross-section of performance art and musical performance, with a really high hit rate and exactly the kind of disorienting magic you want to stumble across as you walk into the front bar of a pub. This is going to be one of Doctor Robot's last shows "for a while", and the line-up features some of the absolute best going on in this universe. Terrificus make chaotic, joyful, mayhemic industrial noise with leaf blowers, custom-rigged boomboxes and strobe lights. S.Miles promotes mental wellbeing through dental health. Tom Adamson is a legit shredder with an entire performance arc packed with garage-pop-rock-new-wave bangers. And Astrophysical Master is new to me but we're told to expect "a unique form of techno tweaked with nature". This has been a really unique, wonderful little series in Sydney's amazingly diverse music universe. Go see it off, it'll rule.

I got a really simple, succinct summary of what this gig is about from one of the artists and I really like it: "Creamy G's aims to highlight Sydney's most unique and interesting underground/independent performers." While I like the statement's accuracy and humility, it's also the wildest understatement of the century: the weird, the crazy, the fun, the "out there" - whatever that looks like, you'll find it with artists and acts like these. Take Doctor Robot ("from the Year Nine Million!") and his talk box solos on his synthesiser as he seeks to understand the human experience as a newcomer to Earth with a bag of songs and a wild silver get up. ToyDeath I remember seeing I think at Laneway 2007 (back when it wasn't owned by Live Nation) - a wild, late night booking which had a handful of people watching three people in animal costumes that were playing circuit bent children's toys through guitar pedals. Haven't seen them since, I bet they're gonna rule. Sandwich Magic (Daisy Knight, the project of a former member of Dweeb City) does songs about sandwiches. And it's Tom Adamson's album launch. Love this!

An early version of the SydneyMusic.net website had a "rave finder", where we tried to give pointers on the best party collectives doing stuff around town. We'll try find a way to get that back on the site - it was a useful resource, but we need more people in the know to help us track down where the good stuff is! In the meantime... Gladdy parties are a good time, and Cosmic Boogie comes recommended to us. Runs til 3am.
We're thrilled to announce a brand new merch drop in collaboration with Studio 3AM. You can represent your favourite local gig guide while looking awesome and supporting us financially. Now that's value!
