These guys started playing shows around the time that we started recording gigs, and it's been brilliant to watch them go from opening supports on various lineups (I fondly remember an early set from the band on a Tuesday night at The Vanguard in early 2022) to headlining their own launch at the Lansdowne! Great shoegazey dream pop, well worth a look.

Believe the hype. After drip-feeding singles across the pandemic that absolutely ruled our living rooms ('who the fuck are these guys? what is happening??' might have been my utterance when first hearing 'Smashmouth'), this gang of five (jokingly self-described as 'the BTS of Burwood') were playing still-early gigs a year ago: notable outings included their Genesis Owusu support at the Enmore, and an inspired booking at Phoenix Central Park. They crushed, and have only improved their force ever since. This will soon be a tiny room by 1300 standards, so see them while they're still doing 'em. Trust me on this.

No seriously, Shady Nasty are one of Sydney's finest bands - a fluid blend of post-hardcore intersecting with just about any genre they care to mash into the stew.
