This is a CRACKING lineup! "Heavy Demo" is the Rik Saunders (Melodrones) radio show on 2SER, and this is an IRL version of the same. And what a cast: the last visit to Sydney by Scott & Charlene's Wedding was an absolute delight - it's a rare opportunity to catch the amazing Melbourne band. Dust put on a scorching show and are a must see. Moody Beach's fuzz pop is a delight. Antenna is a new Shogun (Royal Headache / Shogun & The Sheets / Finnoguns Wake) punk project. And a legend convention of DJs rounding out the lineup. Excellent stuff!

Rik Saunders here and I was just hoping to tell you about my event 'Heavy Demo': Heavy Demo is my radio programme I’ve been doing for the last two years. Guests come on and share their vinyl collections with me and we have a trip down memory lane throughout as I gently interview the guest in a 'this is your life' manner. Guests reminisce about where they bought the records, anecdotes about the musicians on the records and other topics include how their music taste has influenced the person they have grown to become. There’s a dry sense of humour that underpins it. Anyway it’s about time I turn it into an event to help showcase some of the talent that is simmering away here in Sydney. It’s an evening held at a new venue called “The House of Music and Booze” consisting of vinyl DJs (previous guests of the show) + bands. I’m trying to invoke the spirit of John Peel here by just spotlighting some really fantastic songwriting that is going on.

Great local line-up of C.O.F.F.I.N, who have spent a lot of time on the road with Amyl & The Sniffers. Caitlin Harnett and the Pony Boys are a robust crew of alt-country stalwarts who I'm pretty sure could lay claim to having played every bar in town. Plan your trip, check out a new space. Good stuff.
