This late-notice announce is worth reconsidering your Thursday night plans for: a glimpse of some of what's happening in forward-thinking electronic/hip-hop/pop music across a broad spectrum. Too Birds are an incredible Naarm industrial noise rap trio - one of their members is Teether, who played a buzzed-about solo set at Phoenix Central Park last week with a metal band configuration that included his frequent collaborator Kuya Neil (look up their album "Stressor" from this year, it's incredible) on guitar. Sevy appeared in that Phoenix set as a featured guest - excellent local rapper that's been active the last 3-4 years with a really magnetic presence as a performer. Sidney Phillips is another frequent collaborator in this expanded universe. Trophie is full neon hyperpop. Very exciting lineup!

If you want to hear a slice of some of our phenomenal emerging local hyperpop, you'd do well to dive into this lineup.

Never heard of these guys but they're now signed to Third Man Records, and released an earlier EP in 2020 on Sydney's Computer Human Records - home of local legends Tee Vee Repairman and Liquids. They've also played shows with (also local legends) Gee Tee and Research Reactor Corp in the States.

This has a shot at being gig of the year, five days into 2023. Magdalena Bay are incredible! Familiarise yourself with their stuff on YouTube if you haven’t had the pleasure. Massive, interesting, intelligent, fun, sexy pop with an absolutely blender full of musical influences. Hyperpop, sure, but so much more besides.

Carle Wehbe and Charlie Collins and their bands host an all-star party of "loved originals, classic covers and holiday classics". Don't be a yee-hawmbug.

Huh, I played guitar in a band with Jim once upon a time. We did precisely one show. There we go! Who is Art vs Science in 2022? Who's gonna be turning up to this gig? I'm actually genuinely curious to see what their life lessons and musings have yielded forth to them when it comes to being a party band that got massive on the back of some silly songs that were the sound of three guys having fun. Described as "a modern soul revue". Lachlan Mitchell (Laneous, Vulture St Tape Gang, Barney McCall, Harry James Angus, Jazz Party, Kafka) leads a rotating jazz/soul band with Uncomfortable Science, this time featuring three members of GODTET, with another special guest yet to be announced.

Normally a MCs and DJs setup, but apparently have a live band this time around!
