Floodlights

W/ Our Carlson

7:30pm Carriageworks

JH

Two Melbourne acts getting a lot of buzz - Floodlights were recently handpicked by Pavement to open for them during their Australian tour. Our Carlson offers demented yobbo-core rave anthems - imagine an Aussie listening to Parklife, taking a bunch of pingers and then letting loose yelling along to a bunch of drum machines. Which is to say: it's good.

Another sent in from the legend that is DS: "experimental music based on the pied butcherbird". And that experimental music is by Jon Rose and Hollis Taylor, along with the Ensemble Offspring. It looks to be an hour-long performance, an original work. Get some culture ya barbarian.

Opening Sounds: Liveworks Fest

W/ Rainbow Chan, Sui Zhen

8:00pm Carriageworks

JH

Entry is free with RSVP! Great one-two punch lineup from two incredible songwriters and sound creators. Rainbow Chan has gone from strength to strength over the last decade as she's evolved her electronic pop across genre, language and thematic dimensions. Sui Zhen is up from Melbourne, with her 2019 album "Losing Linda" being amongst highlight from that year for me. Highly recommended, and a great look at Liveworks' fascinating program.
